Welcome to Bradford Art Therapy.

Mental health problems are more common than we might think, approximately 1 in 6 adults and young people experience mental health difficulties.

It can feel overwhelming waiting for support on long waiting lists, or being offered very limited support. At Bradford art therapy we offer a range of services and treatment that suits your needs, in a creative and flexible way.

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy. It is a way of working with a trained professional to explore difficult feelings, behaviours and life experiences using artwork and the art-making process.

Art therapy does not rely on talking alone. Using art materials can help someone to visually make sense of emotions or feelings that can feel difficult to put into words.

Art therapy is not about being good at art and art-work is treated sensitively and not judged or critiqued.

About me:

Belinda is a trained art therapist with over 6 years of experience in CAMHS (children and adolescent mental health service) she has worked with children, young people and adults in private practice with a variety of mental health conditions.

Although her primary training is in art therapy she is able to offer talking therapy. Art making is not a requirement for support.

Other Approaches

Some people choose to talk through and reflect on difficult experiences and do not use art materials at all. The aim of the therapy space is to meet the needs of the individual and this can be very flexible.

Neurodiversity (Working with ASD & ADHD)

We also offer support to adults and children with ASD (Autism spectrum disorder) and ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.)

Many individuals diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition or who may be querying a diagnosis can struggle to access traditional therapy approaches due to a lack of understanding of neurodiversity. We offer support that takes into account the needs of the individual and we are able to make adaptations to support your individual needs.

About the space

Our in person sessions are held in a community venue with a confidential therapy room.

For individuals wishing to use art therapy the space is fully equipped with a number of art materials.
